Transparency

The management of the City of Rochester needs to be done in as transparent a manner as possible. All city meetings need to be recorded with both video and audio equipment, and archived for later use. These meeting videos, as well as detailed written minutes of the substance of the meetings, need to be made available on the city website so that anyone and everyone can see for themselves just what the business of the city is.

I think that the current city administration, and a majority of the councilpersons, have failed in this arena and have failed miserably. Rather than view their positions as one of public trust, I feel at times they have decided that they are the owners of the funds that they control. They have lost touch with who the real owners are - you and I, and our next door neighbors.

If elected, I pledge to do whatever I can do to ensure that the business of the city is as open to public observation and scrutiny as possible. Couincil meetings should be broadcast both on the internet and over cable television. Every citizen should be afforded as many means as possible to watch or listen to their city council.
