Pass the Word

Three weeks until election day. The long summer and early fall are drawing to a close and it won’t be long before we all know who your new city council persons are.

Encourage Others to Vote

I have spent a lot of money (your money, by way of donations) and knocked on a lot of doors this summer and fall, and have enjoyed meeting each of you. If you are a supporter of mine and intend to vote for me in November, I thank you in advance for honoring me with this distinction.

I would like to ask two more favors of you, however. During the next three weeks, please find it within yourself to find a voter who does not normally vote and encourage them to do so. It’s really important that people participate in the process. In addition, please pass on your endorsement of me to other family members or friends and encourage them to cast a ballot for me on November 6th. This election will probably be won or lost by only a handful of votes, so your efforts may very well have an impact on the outcome.

Let’s make the 2007 election one of the largest turnouts in city history!

Leaf Composting Issue is a Symptom of Leadership Failure

The incumbent council persons have failed in their duty to the residents. Don’t be fooled by their posturing for votes or their apparent concern for immediate results. They dropped the ball on this issue.

The issue surrounding the adverse impact the DPW operation is having on the residents of the North Hill subdivision has been topical for years. And years. And years. The current controversy over the possibility of moving the leaf composting component of the operation has become topical because of a recent push by the North Hill homeowners to have some resolution to their problem - after asking for help for years. With the election only three weeks away, to nobody’s surprise we are witnessing council members posturing, positioning and demanding quick action to resolve the problem.

Is the issue important? Yes. Do the decisions the council make have the potential to impact hundreds of residents? Yes! Is the current city council to blame for essentially refusing to address these concerns for years? Yes!

I am Humbled by Your Support

I started doing a little door-to-door campaigning today. I only went to about twenty homes. As usual, about half the people were not home, and about half the people answered the door.

Of the half that answered, at four or five homes I was greeted by a homeowner who said “I know you. I voted for you in the primary!” I was shocked and humbled to hear these words from people I had never met. It really surprised me and embarrassed me at the same time.

Once again, I am humbled by the fact that someone would place their trust in me to represent their interests. The words “We voted for you” have strengthend my resolve to do the very best I can to respresent the city if I am elected in November. Thanks again to all my supporters and to all who voted for me. We may not always agree about an issue, but I promise to treat everyone fairly, consider all positions, and never let special interests guide my decisions.

Lawn Signs

lawn-sign.gifI am looking for interested individuals who will let me place a “Zemens for Council” lawn sign on your propety. Please contact me and let me know if I can place one on your property. Thanks!

Thank You All for Your Votes, Hard Work and Encouragement

verb.gifI am happy to report that I ended up in fifth place in today’s primary. I was humbled by the results of the primary election. I truly thank each and every person who voted for me or supported me in any other way.

If elected, I promise to do my best and work hard and smart to make Rochester an even better place than it is today. I truly believe that new leadership, building on the the foundation of the past, can catapult Rochester into the next decade as one of the finest small towns in America.

Thanks again to everyone! Please stay in touch with the candidates and the issues and encourage others to vote on November 6th.

Many Thanks to Everyone!
Vote on Tuesday, August 7th

I would like to offer a thank you in advance to all of the people who have been assisting me in this campaign. Some of you donated money, some helped me walk door to door, and some offered kind words and moral support. Each type of support has been equally important and I thank all of you for your time and your efforts as we move into the last weekend before the primary.

Tuesday is Primary Election Day

Please remember that Tuesday, August 7th is primary election day. It’s truly important that we all get out and vote. Regardless of who your candidates of choice are, make certain that you take the time to vote on Tuesday. My hope is that there is a record turn out for an off-year primary election. I am hopeful that will be the case!
